ReplyDeleteShared matches can be tricky... Many of the questions are based on things that have confused me before.
DeleteI knew I was confused before I took this survey. The only question I have is if Ancestry shows up to 20Cm - why am I getting information on those with less than 20Cm?

DeleteSaying Jane is top entry in John's shared match list with you was misleading because of course she wouldn't be on shared match list. I was going to answer false until I read that statement. LOL

DeleteI misunderstood the question 'If Betty logged in to her account and looked at YOUR match page, would she see John in the shared match list?' Unless I'm missing something the answer seem to imply she she was logging into YOUR account, not hers. Is that right? Did the question assume she had been given access to your results?
ReplyDeleteNo, the question assumed that she had logged into her own account and found you among her matches.
DeleteUnder "Distant Cousin" heading, I see shared matches with less than 20 cM (going down to about 18 cM). Those with 20cM or more go under 4th cousin (or closer).

DeleteYou will see distant (to you) matches in your match list under the Distant Cousins heading, going all the way down to 6cM. Is this what you are referring to?
